What if it was Today?

What if it was Today?

What if, it was today?
When clouds are rolled and swept away.
A trumpet sounds through skies so wide,
As light gives way and shadows hide.
All desires will fall apart,
Yet one longing fills every heart.
To see the One our souls adore,
To win the Christ we waited for.
But… what if it was today?
The cry goes out across the land,
“Be ready now! The time is at hand!”
Yet to the world, it feels like a dream,
A tale beyond what’s ever seen.
But soon the veil will lift at last,
And all will see the future—past.
The truest life will then begin…
So… what if now He calls us in?
With some who weep, and some who wait,
Yet for the brides with lamps held straight,
With tongues too full of words to say,
It’ll whisper soft, “Heaven knows it all the way.”
Falling into His arms,
The contentment of winning His heart away.
“You are My faithful servant,” He will say,
As joy ignites eternal day.
But… what if it was today?
